Cancer burden (DALY) attributable to diabetes Australia 2018, by cancer type

In 2018, diabetes was a leading attributable risk factor to the cancer burden in Australia, particularly lung cancer at 10,463 disability adjusted life years. That year, over 27,000 disability-adjusted life years, or DALYs, were attributed to diabetes. DALYs are used to measure the burden of a disease, or years of healthy life lost, by combining years of life lost with years of life lived with disability.
