Sequencing was undertaken to evaluate the physiological effect of the auxin phenylacetic acid (PAA) on plant growth and development. Samples include both PAA and IAA (Indole-3-acetic acid) treated plants to compare the effects of the two auxins and to isolate the PAA specific effects on the Arabidopsis transcriptome. Briefly, Arabidopsis seedlings were grown on MS plates (1% sucrose, 0.8% agar) for 5 days at 23ðC under a 16 hour photoperiod then transferred to liquid MS for 48 hours for pre-equilibration. Seedlings were then treated with 1mM IAA (indole-3-acetic acid; 1uM final concentration) or 20mM PAA (phenylacetic acid; 20uM final concentration) or a mock solution (DMSO) and samples were taken at 0, 1, 3, 6, 12 and 24 hour intervals in triplicate.
