* This white plaster model has a rectangular base. The surface rising from the base begins as an ellipse and rises to a central peak. No curves are drawn on. It shows the locus of centers of principal curvature of an elliptic paraboloid (that is to say, the envelope or caustic of reflected rays). A tag on the base of the model reads: Centralfläche des Paraboloids. (/) Verl. v. L. Brill. 1. Ser. Nr. IIa.
* Эта модель была разработана в 1877 г. Л. Шлейермахером под руководством Людвига Брилля в высшей технической школе в Мюнхене и опубликована как часть первой серии, выпущенной Бриллем. Он показывает геометрическое место центров главной кривизны эллиптического параболоида (т.е. огибающую или каустику отраженных лучей).
