Circulating nucleic acids in plasma of individuals with human lymphatic filariasis

Circulating nucleic acids (RNA / DNA) found in body fluids have been shown to be good biomarkers for diagnosis of infections. The short half life of nucleic acids makes them ideal choice for detecting active infections and hence good targets for molecular testing. Overall design: Plasma RNAseq was performed on total RNA extracted from plasma of W. bancrofti infected individuals from India and Cook Islands. Plasma of healthy un-infected blood bank volunteers were used as controls.
