The present invention pertains to a friction material comprising a fiber substrate， a friction-regulating material， a binding material， and no copper component; the friction material being such that the friction-regulating material contains two or more non-whisker-shaped titanic acid compounds， and that the non-whisker-shaped titanic acid compounds include at least non-whisker-shaped lithium-potassium titanate. Alternatively， the present invention pertains to a friction material comprising a fiber substrate， a friction-regulating material， a binding material， and no copper component， the friction material containing a non-whisker-shaped titanic acid compound and low-melting metal fibers.
