Fly ash-derived oxygen carriers for chemical looping dry reforming of methane

In summary, a novel oxygen carrier has been prepared for a scalable technology for the co-utilisation of methane and carbon dioxide combined with the valorisation of iron-rich solid waste via a practical and efficient approach. This work involved a chemical looping process based on a redox of iron-rich catalysts prepared from otherwise coal fly ash waste to produce high-purity syngas, which is an intermediate chemical for the production of valuable solvents, including isopropanol and methanol, and can also be used to produce fuels (diesel, gasoline, etc) via the Fischer-Tropsch process.
