(Appendix) Foraminifer abundance of a volcaniclastic interval from ODP Hole 197-1206A

A sparse, predominantly benthic foraminiferal assemblage extracted from the lower volcaniclastic interval on the Koko Seamount, Leg 197 Hole 1206A, indicates an early to middle Eocene age and, in general, a middle to upper bathyal paleobathymetry (400-1000 m). The very rare occurrence of poorly preserved planktonic foraminifers tends to support this biostratigraphic interpretation, which is based primarily on benthic foraminifers.从科科海山（Koko Seamount）第197航次1206A钻孔的下部火山碎屑层段中提取的稀疏且以底栖有孔虫（benthic foraminifera）为主的组合，指示其形成时代为始新世早期至中期，整体古水深处于半深海中-上部（400~1000米）。本次发现的保存状况极差的浮游有孔虫（planktonic foraminifera）极为稀少，这一现象进一步佐证了主要基于底栖有孔虫得出的生物地层学解释。
