Ancient Greek: semantics and connotation of diminutives

The dataset was annotated to discover nuances in connotation and meaning of diminutives and possible connections to diachronic change, animacy or other factors. Annotations on 8 different lemmata: 6 were fully annotated: ἀνθρώπιον (36 hits), ἀράχνιον (80 hits), προβάτιον (20 hits), σωμάτιον (123 hits), ὀρνίθιον (57 hits) en δενδρίον (3 hits) 2 were from a randomised sample: μόριον (61 annotated hits) and παιδίον (49 annotated hits). annotated on the basis of two categories, loosely based on Petersen's 'Greek diminutives in -ιον; a study in semantics' (1910): semantic category (meaning) similarity diminutive derivative connotation positive neutral negative ⁠translations from “Loeb Classical Library” were occasionally used for context.
