The article explores the topicality and philosophical openness of the pedagogist Maria Montessori, highlighting the persistence of her methodological principles in current ministerial pedagogical lines and contemporary socio-pedagogical challenges. It emphasizes the affinity between the "cosmic vision" Montessoriana and the modern experiences of "outdoor education" and "green-school", emphasizing the link between children and nature. In addition, it outlines a link between the educational tradition Montessoriana and innovation, citing examples of former Montessori students as founders of Google and Amazon. It explores the compatibility between the Montessori principles and the STEM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), highlighting the synergy in promoting practical learning and investigation. Montessori's thought, anticipating neuroscientific discoveries, is examined in the light of the neuroscientific foundations of the Montessorian practice. It points out that Montessori's insights on the direct experiences of children are in line with current research on absorbent minds of children. Finally, the article explores the integration of the Montessorian pedagogical proposal with educational robotics, highlighting affinities between Montessori's procedural thinking and the learning logic of educational robotics. There are studies conducted in Montessori schools that demonstrate surprising results in the use of educational robotics to develop logical-mathematical skills in children. In conclusion, the article proposes a reflection on the need to balance tradition and innovation in Montessori pedagogy, stressing the importance of adapting the approach to current digital and technological reality while always keeping the child and his needs at the center.
