Streptomyces ambofaciens strain ATCC 23877. This is the wild-type and the best studied strain of the species. In addition to netropsin and spiramycin, this strain has been shown, based on genomic data reconfirmed experimentally, to produce a novel angucycline-like polyketide antibiotic.
