资源简介:
In FY 1972, the University of Delaware became the 12th University to achieve Institutional status in the Sea Grant program after three years of coherent project support. The University of Delaware has chosen marine studies as one of the three major program thrusts for the present decade. It has made as positive a commitment to marine research, education, and public service as can be made by an academic institution. This has been done by forming the College of Marine Studies and by providing a significant increase in funding for operations as well as facilities. This commitment by the University has complemented the growing support of the Sea Grant program. The size of Delaware, its position in the Middle Atlantic Region, its relatively undeveloped coastal zone (including bay and contiguous wetlands), , and the close spirit of cooperation existing between academic, government, and business groups led in 1972 to the creation of a program which had as its goal the establishment of - "A Model System for Cooperation Between Universities, Government, and Industry in the Study and Development of Regional Marine Resources.
