Using transcriptomics, we studied the spatiotemporal dynamics of B. subtilis swarming colonies on soft-agar surface and identified functional subpopulations. B. subtilis cells swarming on soft-agar were collected by our custom sampling robot at various locations and time points and analyzed using RNA-Seq with 3 biological replicates.
