Transplantation of differential microbiota in young germ-free donors show distinct metabolic signatures. We used microarrays to understand pathway level changes in the livers and small intestines of differential-microbiota conventionalized young recipeint mice. Microbiota from ~24-month-old or 5- to 6-week-old mice were transplanted into 5- to 6-week-old germ-free recipient mice, which were then housed in a controlled environment for 8 weeks. The livers and small intestines of the recipient mice were used for microarray analysis.
