Targeted SNP Discovery in Macaques

Rhesus macaques are the most widely used non-human primate animal model in biomedical research. The transcriptomes of six Chinese origin rhesus macaques were sequenced using RNASeq on the Illumnia GAIIx platform. Results from this work will be use to identify gene-centric SNPs that are common to Indian and Chinese origin populations and those that are population specific. SNP lists have been generated and are currently being validated.
