Supporting Data for Blue Pill or Red Pill? Schooling, Aesthetic Labor and Precarious Reality Among Chinese Working-Class Girls

To have a comprehensive understanding of the cultural mechanism of working-class girls' motivations for aesthetic labor, this study has conducted ethnographical research in a vocational college in China. By participant observation of the learning and internship activities of students in the High-Speed Railway Attendant Program, generated fieldnotes are included in this dataset to record students' daily experience and teaching practices. Semi-structured interviews with ten students (eight female, two male) and one teacher are conducted to further explore their subjective motivations for aesthetic labor.
