资源简介:
The main objective of this proposal is to deepen the understanding of the mechanisms behind the enhanced catalytic
performance and stability of Ni based electrodes modified with alkali metal promoters (Li, Na, K, Ca, Mg) during high temperature
co electrolysis of CO2 and H2O in Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells (SOECs). This will be achieved through a comprehensive study
combining in situ and quasi in situ X ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) measurements and high resolution transmission electron
microscopy (HR TEM). The proposed study aims to mimic realistic SOEC operating conditions, including exposure to reactive gas
mixtures at elevated temperatures, and thus allow us to observe electronic changes that govern electrocatalytic behaviour. A key focus
is on lithium, which has previously demonstrated a unique ability to suppress Ni oxidation in CO2 rich atmospheres as observed in
our earlier operando XAS studies at LISA beamline (ESRF).
