This dataset provides the values obtained from the application of twelve geometric criteria used to assess the internal stability of granular materials. The stability condition required for a material to be assessed as stable (S) is also provided.Internal stability is a necessary condition to prevent internal erosion, specifically suffusion, in granular materials subjected to seepage flow. The geometric criteria, six semi-empirical criteria and six derived approaches, were applied to 37 grain size distributions (GSDs) of granular materials. The GSDs were selected from nine previous studies that investigated suffusion through laboratory flow tests. All criteria were applied in accordance with their descriptions in the literature.
