"The assessment of the potential for useful conversion of wind power to electrical power is quite complex because of the many factors involved, both of a climatological and an engineering nature. The ultimate assessment in an absolute sense is an engineering problem better left to engineers. The climatologist's capability is in attempting to describe the available wind power for the Nevada Test Site (NTS) and comparing it in a relative sense with what is known for other parts of the country so that engineers can assess the conversion potential.
