Bamboo is one of the most universally useful plant products. The development of secondary cell wall (SCW) and cellulose synthesis are crucially important for the multi-role of pulping bamboo. The somaclonal variation has been widely utilized to generate valuable genotypes and genes for speeding up bamboo breeding. Here, we obtained somaclonal variant twv induced by in vitro culture. The twv showed thicker SCW and higher DBH. The analysis of transcriptome and metabolome were performed in WT vs twv to study the mechanism of SCW formation in somaclonal variation.
