Girardinichthys multiradiatus Umbrella project

The Darkedged Splitfin (Girardinichthys multiradiatus) is an endangered species of cold-water fish from the mountains of Central Mexico belonging to the family Goodeidae. It is live-bearing with a highly developed placenta. DNA for Pacbio sequencing and 10X sequencing was collected from mixed organ of an individual; DNA for Bionano sequencing, and liver from another individual; DNA for HiC sequencing, body muscle of the third individual. All samples were from laboratory-born descendants of fish collected by Constantino Macias Garcia of Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in 2011 at Salazar Lagoon, Mexico. The samples were prepared from the Long Read team of the DRESDEN concept Genome Center, and sequencing was conducted at DRESDEN concept Genome Center, MPI for Evolutionary Biology, and Phase Genomics. Genome assembly and manual curation of chromosomes was done by Martin Pippel of Gene Myers lab at MPI-CBG. The primary haplotype contains the longest contigs of the DAmar assembly, phased with 10X linked reads, scaffolded with Bionano optical maps, and Phase Genomics HiC reads.
