Characterization of the Kenyan Honey Bee (Apis mellifera) Gut Microbiota: A First Look at Tropical and Sub-Saharan African Bee Associated Microbiomes

We provide the 16S rRNA data published in the paper whose link is attached (https://doi.org/10.3390/microorganisms8111721). 86 worker honey bee guts, from 9 apiaries from 3 different geographical zones in Kenya; Western Kenya, Central Kenya and Coastal Kenya were sequenced. We sequenced the V4 region using the 515f: 5′-GTGYCAGCMGCCGCGGTAA-3′; 806r: 3′-GGACTACNVGGGTWTCTAAT-5′ primers. The primers used have not been trimmed from the raw data. We truncated both the forward and reverse reads at lengths 180 during the analysis process.
