Extracellular microRNA: Novel Biomarker and Potential Therapeutic Target in Trauma

Based on our animal studies, we propose that circulating miRNAs are released from injured tissues after trauma. We use small RNA sequencing to characteriza plasma miRNA in trauma and healthy control patients and trauma and control mice Overall design: noncoding extracellular RNA was isolated from cell-free plasma and was analyzed by an Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer with the Small RNA kit and used for small RNA sequencing library preparation. Libraries were sequenced on an Illumina NextSeq 500 and analyzed by Norgen Bioteck Corp. The raw sequence data were analyzed using the exceRpt small RNAseq pipeline (Genboree Bioinformatics).
