资源简介:
“A patrol resting after [?] outcome (Namirrue).” Landscape view with soldiers in the foreground and some ruined buildings in the background. The soldiers are probably from the 4/4 KAR or the Nigerian Brigade, part of the column to which Capt. Irvine was attached. The battle at Namirrue saw the King’s African Rifles come under heavy attack from the German forces in Portuguese East Africa. ❧ This image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During the war he met with missionaries in East Africa which in turn lead to him joining the mission at Tumutumu and then establishing the mission at Chogoria, both in Kenya.
