BIOL 2050: Lab 2 Woodlot Data Set 3

A total of 10 adult Western Red Cedar trees were examined in the Saywell Woodlot at York University on September 21, 2015 at aproximatley 4:00pm. It was partly cloudy with a temperature of 18ᵒC. The trees were randomly sampled by placing a 100 foot transect along the edge of the woodlot and collecting data on the adult trees we encountered while working our way down the transect (trees were sampled within 1 meter of the transect on either side). Data was collected on the distance between adult trees as well as the DBH and condition of the tree. Trees were considered to be adults if they were at least twice the height of the experimenter. The experimenter measured 71 inches in height and visual observation was used to determine weather or not the tree was twice the experimenter's height. The distance between trees and DBH measurements were obtained by using a transect measuring tape. The condition of the trees were based on visual observation.
