The activities aimed at scientific research are included in the operation Statistics on Scientific Research and Technological Development Activities, where the resources (human and material) used in this type of activities are computed by companies, universities and other centers dependent on public bodies that carry out R & D activities. R&D statistics can reveal the degree of competence or scientific progress of a community and its position vis-à-vis other surrounding countries.以科研为导向的各类活动被纳入科研与技术开发活动运营统计（Operation Statistics on Scientific Research and Technological Development Activities）范畴。开展研发（Research and Development，简称R&D）活动的企业、高等院校及其他隶属于公共机构的机构，会对该类活动所耗用的人力与物力资源进行统计核算。研发统计可反映某一科研共同体的竞争力水平与科学进展程度，以及其相较于周边其他国家的相对位次。
