Indian Truck License Plates: a sample dataset for license plate detection and recognition (LPD+LPR)

A 470-image sample of real photos of Indian commercial vehicles (mostly trucks) taken on handheld phones at logistics-yard gates in Aug–Sep 2026, by day and at night. Every image has license-plate bounding boxes (589 plates) and the plate text, in YOLO, COCO and CSV formats, plus plate crops for recognition. 29 state / UT registration codes; one photo per vehicle; faces and camera watermarks blurred; metadata removed. Labels: detector boxes kept only when confirmed by text readers and a second pass for missed plates; text accepted on agreement of 5 independent readings, or by human review (58% of plates human-checked).
