This dataset contains the research data underlying the publication "Modeling the SAR altimetry noise: From high posting rates to precision gains". The publication is available at Advances in Space Research: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.asr.2025.11.103 <br><strong>Contents</strong>The dataset contains 10 days of altimetry data of the Sentinel-6 and Sentinel-3 missions at an increased posting rate of 140 Hz (default in operational processing of, e.g., EUMETSAT, is 20 Hz).The unfocused SAR-processed altimetry signal is derived from EUMETSAT Level-1a altimetry data (http://doi.org/10.15770/EUM_SEC_CLM_0093) via the processor---and with parameters---described in the related publication Ehlers et al. 2025 (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.asr.2025.11.103). The data in the form of netcdf files is contained in the zip-archivesSentinel3.zipSentinel6.zipEvery netcdf file corresponds to a single track and is formatted in a very similar fashion as the Eumetsat Level-2 altimetry data (http://doi.org/10.15770/EUM_SEC_CLM_0096), see the readme file for details.<br>
