资源简介:
The purpose of the present study was to examine the relationship between young adults' perceptions of their parents' childrearing practices and their narcissistic tendencies in a three-factor model frame (antagonism, agentic extraversion, and neuroticism). For this aim, young adults' apprehension of their mothers' and fathers' warmth, rejection, and overprotection (a combination of controlling and monitoring behaviors) levels were examined. A total of 188 participants (female=114, male= 74), in the age range of 18 to 30 years, were included the study. Short-Egna the Minnen Betraffande Uppfostoran -Own Memories of Upbringing (Short- EMBU) scale was used to measure parental factors, and narcissism was assessed via the Short Form of the Five-Factor Narcissism Inventory (FFNI-SF). The results found no significant relationship between the agentic extraversion factor of narcissism and examined parenting dimensions. The neuroticism factor of narcissism was positively correlated with parental rejection, and (over)protection and antagonism factor were associated with parental rejection and overprotection of the father. The results of the stepwise regression analysis showed that rejection of the father was a predictor of the antagonism factor and rejection of the father and overprotection of the mother were predictors of the neuroticism factor, and together, they explained 6% of the variance in the scores of neuroticism factor. These findings partially supported previous research.
