Gut Microbiota diversity analysis during Salmonella Typhimurium infection

This study aimed to find the change in diversity change of gut microbiota during S. Typhimurium infection. The study includes infection of human stool samples with the pathogen in vitro and analyze the change through sequencing. Through this analyses important gut bacteria acting against the infection can be found which may be helpful in the future for bacterial mediated therapy as an alternative to anibiotics. This study used human samples which does not require translation of results from animal models to humans and is also free from human host factors which may have an influence on the diversity of gut microbiota as it is an in vitro study.
