Data for: Understanding barriers and opportunities for adoption of conservation practices on rented farmland

In addition to revealing patterns of barrier expression/identification, we also found barriers that were expressed/identified in relation to barriers within each conservation barriers category. For example, asynchronous commodity price and cash rental rate trends act as a barrier for operators in relation to competition for rented land and NOLs constant demand for high rental rate. Identification of several such related barriers in our study could potentially reveal pathways through which barriers work in tandem, thus further discouraging adoption of conservation practices on rented farmland. Related barriers could also be treated as testable hypotheses by scholars. Example of one such testable hypothesis is: the negative impact of asynchronous commodity price and cash rental rate trends on adoption of conservation practices is exacerbated due to competition for rented land and NOLs constant demand for high rental rate.
