METSIM Subcutaneous adipose needle biopsy RNA-seq

This subcutaneous adipose RNA-seq dataset derived from small needle biopsies is part of the third release of the METabolic Syndrome In Men (METSIM) study (phs000743). These data were generated to evaluate relationships between adipose gene expression levels, genotypes, and cardiometabolic trait data included in dbGaP in the METSIM study. Two original aims were to detect splice junction and expression quantitative trait (s/eQTL) signals that colocalize with GWAS signals and to detect associations between gene expression and clinical traits accounting for adipose cell type proportions. The tissue donors are a subset of the initial 10,197 participants in the METSIM population cohort from Kuopio, Finland.
