Overview of cultured microbes in case of bacteremia (182 episodes).

Data represent numbers of episodes of bacteremia. CNS, coagulase-negative staphylococci. aOf all 106 episodes with CNS-bacteremia for which glycopeptide-therapy was started, 32 were due to CRBSI (including endoluminal and exoluminal infection). Of the remaining 74 episodes, tentative sources were mucositis (n = 21), cytarabin skin toxicity (n = 8), contaminated blood cultures (n = 8), red catheter insertion site without other criteria for exoluminal CRBSI (n = 6), unknown (n = 29), and other causes (n = 2).
