Amplicon Sequencing of Bacteria and Fungi in Early Childhood Caries

Sequencing of the V1V3 region of the bacterial 16S rRNA gene and the ITS2 region of the fungal rRNA operon was performed using the Illumina MiSeq. The samples were supragingival plaque from 43 caries-free children and samples from intact enamel, white spot lesions, cavitated lesions, and dentin-involved lesions in 32 caries-affected children.
