Enables cell-cell adhesion mediator activity and protein homodimerization activity. Involved in cell-cell adhesion. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including brush border assembly; cellular response to hydroperoxide; and intestinal epithelial cell maturation. Is active in cell surface.
