================================================================================ X_FLUIDX3D::LBM-BASED UNSTEADY FLOW DATASET Open-Source Simulation Data Collection================================================================================ OVERVIEW--------This open-source dataset contains three-dimensional unsteady flow simulation data generated using the Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM). The collection is designed to support research in flow visualisation, vortex analysis, and interactive exploration of complex fluid dynamics. The dataset includes three canonical aerodynamic configurations. Because of the 50GB limit of Zenodo, we split the dataset into different volumes. You should go to the correct volume to find the flow data you want: • BOEING_747(volume1 ) • DELTAWing(volume1) • F22RAPTOR (Re = 400,000)(volume2) All simulations were performed with consistent numerical settings to enable comparative studies of vortex dynamics, flow separation, and unsteady wake structures.volume1:https://zenodo.org/records/19419413volume2:https://zenodo.org/records/19427191 ================================================================================DATASET SPECIFICATIONS================================================================================ [1] DELTAWING_MAG0_3--------------------Spatial Domain (physical units, meters): X: [-0.990909, 1.000000] Y: [-5.709091, 5.709091] Z: [-0.990909, 1.000000] Temporal Resolution: t_start = 0.0 Δt = 7.41839792e-3 (time units consistent with simulation) [2] BOEING747_RE400000----------------------Spatial Domain Configuration: Origin (xmin, ymin, zmin): (-2.488889, -5.000000, -0.988889) [m] Grid Spacing: 0.019531 m per LBM cell (19.531 mm) Grid Resolution: 256 × 512 × 128 cells Computed Domain Extents: X: [-2.488889, -2.488889 + 0.019531×256] ≈ [-2.49, 2.51] [m] Y: [-5.000000, -5.000000 + 0.019531×512] ≈ [-5.00, 4.99] [m] Z: [-0.988889, -0.988889 + 0.019531×128] ≈ [-0.99, 1.51] [m] Temporal Resolution: t_start = 0.0 Δt = 1.200192030724916e-3 (Note: Base timestep is 1.200192030724916e-4 in the LBM solver, and is exported every 10 samples) [3] F22RAPTOR_RE400000----------------------Spatial Domain Configuration: Origin (xmin, ymin, zmin): (-2.488889, -5.000000, -0.988889) [m] Grid Spacing: 0.016949 m per LBM cell (16.949 mm) Grid Resolution: 295 × 472 × 148 cells Computed Domain Extents: X: [-2.488889, -2.488889 + 0.016949×295] ≈ [-2.49, 2.51] [m] Y: [-5.000000, -5.000000 + 0.016949×472] ≈ [-5.00, 2.99] [m] Z: [-0.988889, -0.988889 + 0.016949×148] ≈ [-0.99, 1.52] [m] Temporal Resolution: t_start = 0.0 Δt = 1.200192030724916e-3 (Note: Base timestep 1.200192030724916e-4, in the LBM solver, exported every 10 samples) ================================================================================DATA FORMAT & VARIABLES================================================================================• File Format: [NETCDF]• Primary Variables: - Velocity field (u, v, v) [m/s] - Pressure field [Pa] - Vorticity magnitude (optional)• Coordinate System: Right-handed Cartesian, origin as specified per case• Units: SI (meters, seconds, kg) ================================================================================CITATION REQUIREMENT ================================================================================By using this dataset in any publication, presentation, or derivative work, You should cite at least one of the following papers, which would be greatly appreciated.: [1] IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics (IEEE VIS 2025):@article{zhang2025exploring, title={Exploring 3D Unsteady Flow Using 6D Observer Space Interactions}, author={Zhang, Xingdi and Ageeli, Amani and Theu{\ss}l, Thomas and Hadwiger, Markus and Rautek, Peter}, journal={IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics}, year={2025}, publisher={IEEE}} [2] ACM SIGGRAPH 2026 (conditionally accepted):@inproceedings{Zhang2026GenericVariational, author = {Zhang, Xingdi and Rautek, Peter and Hadwiger, Markus}, title = {Generic Variational Spacetime Optimization of Vortex Core Manifolds}, booktitle = {Proceedings of ACM SIGGRAPH}, year = {2026}, note = {Conditionally accepted}} ================================================================================LICENSE & ATTRIBUTION================================================================================This dataset is released under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).Attribution must include both the dataset name and the required citation(s) as specified above.
