This experiment was conducted to determine if Apis cerana, which shares an evolutionary history with Nosema ceranae, would be more likely to detect and avoid the pathogen Nosema ceranae than A. mellifera, which is a novel host of the pathogen. The dataset shows individual responses of 106 A. mellifera workers and 96 A. cerana workers to a series of nine Proboscis Extension Reflex assays in which the bees were offered either a sucrose-only solution or a sucrose solution containing Nosema ceranae spores. The concentration of the spore-containing solutions progressively increased and alternated with the sucrose-only solutions.

本实验旨在探究:与东方蜜蜂微孢子虫(Nosema ceranae)拥有共同演化史的中华蜜蜂(Apis cerana),是否比该病原体的新型宿主西方蜜蜂(Apis mellifera)更易检测并规避该病原。本数据集收录了106只西方蜜蜂工蜂与96只中华蜜蜂工蜂的个体响应数据。实验采用9组系列喙伸反射(Proboscis Extension Reflex)测定,向受试蜜蜂分别提供纯蔗糖溶液,以及添加了东方蜜蜂微孢子虫孢子的蔗糖溶液;含孢子溶液的浓度逐步提升,并与纯蔗糖溶液交替进行测定。数据采集与构建所用软件/设备:Microsoft Office Professional 2016附带的Microsoft Excel。数据处理与分析所用软件/设备:R语言版本3.6.1
