Thiscompilationofimagesofmpoxlesionsshowsexamplesoftheeffectsofmonkeypoxvirusinfectionontheskinandmucosa.TheAtlashasbeendevelopedinparallelwiththeemergencyuseprotocolfortecovirimatformpoxundertheMEURIframework.TheMEURIethicalframeworkmakesprovisionfortheemergencyuseofunprovenclinicalinterventionoutsideofclinicaltrials.Formpox,theinitiativeprovidesaccesstotecovirimatduringthemulti-countryoutbreak,pendingtheavailabilityofevidencefromrandomisedclinicaltrials.MEURImaintainsethicsandregulatoryoversight,andensuringdatamonitoring,reporting,andsharing.TheuseoftecovirimatwithinthisframeworkcanberecordedusingtheWHOGlobalClinicalDataPlatformformpoxwhichallowscollectionofanonymisedpatientdata,andwillcontributetoourunderstandingoftheclinicalcharacteristics,variationandassociationsofmpoxdisease.TheAtlaswillsupportthosecollectingdatatoharmonisetheirassessmentsoflesions,andimprovethequalityofthecollecteddata.TheAtlasmayalsobebeneficialtothewidermedicalcommunityasateachingandlearningresource,includingindermatologyandsexualhealthclinics.Itisoneofmanysuchresources,anditshouldbenotedthatthisisnotacomprehensivetool,nordoesitfocusonatypicallesionsorthoserelatingtootherdiseaseprocesses.
