This research demonstrates that human-centred design, implemented through effective industry-academic partnerships, offers a powerful approach for developing commercial kitchen equipment that protects worker health, enhances user experience, and delivers economic value. The substantial improvements achieved across usability, task performance, satisfaction, and ergonomic risk dimensions provide compelling evidence for the effectiveness of participatory, user-centered design approaches in industrial equipment development. The successful commercialization of validated prototypes demonstrates that evidence-based, ergonomically-designed equipment is not only desirable from a worker health perspective but also commercially viable, creating opportunities for manufacturers to differentiate products while contributing to improved working conditions in commercial kitchens.
