Nyakatoke Network Data

Nyakatoke is a small, close-knit community located in the Kagera Region of Tanzania. During one year of my PhD research, I explored the informal insurance networks within this community. The Nyakatoke Network Data comprises a comprehensive census of 119 households and the connections between them. The survey was conducted over five rounds throughout the year 2000, capturing detailed information on household consumption expenditures, shocks, and inter-household transfers occurring between survey rounds. While the dataset itself remains undocumented, it is supplemented by a collection of published and unpublished manuscripts that provide context and insight into the data and the community (see citations below).
