We aimed to analyze the serotype conversion island (SHI-O) to understand the molecular basis of serotype 1c evolution alongside the phylogenetic and antibiotic resistance gene analysis. This study enabled us to understand the clonal relationship of different serotype 1c and related strains and also provided valuable information on the drug resistance in relevance to shigellosis treatment.
