This dataset contains a 3D digital reconstruction of the Pont du Gard, a monumental Roman aqueduct bridge located in Southern France. The model was meticulously created using Blender, a powerful open-source 3D creation suite, with its design and details informed by extensive research and publicly available source images of the historical structure. The Pont du Gard, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a testament to ancient Roman engineering, forming a crucial part of a 50 km aqueduct system that supplied water to the Roman city of Nemausus (modern Nîmes) in the 1st century AD. This 3D model aims to provide an accessible and interactive visualization of this architectural masterpiece, highlighting its unique three-tiered structure and the sophisticated construction techniques employed by Roman builders. As part of the LesArch project (lesantwi.github.io/LesArch-1.1/), this model serves as an open-access resource for digital archaeology, promoting public engagement with cultural heritage and supporting educational initiatives. It contributes to the digital preservation of threatened or significant archaeological sites by offering a detailed virtual representation for study, analysis, and appreciation.
