LINGUOPRAGMATIC FEATURES OF OXYMORON IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK DISCOURSE

Abstract: this article is devoted to a comparative study of the linguopragmatic features of the oxymoron in English and Uzbek discourse. The research examines the oxymoron not merely as an artistic figurative device, but as an effective pragmatic mechanism serving to realize the speaker's specific communicative goals. The article analyzes the functions of logically contradictory combinations within texts and discourse in both languages, focusing on their ability to capture the listener's attention, express irony, and conceptualize complex psychological states. Using examples from English and Uzbek, the role of the oxymoron in media, political, and literary discourse is highlighted, along with its unique national-cultural characteristics.
