The sequence of this protozoan parasite has been completed. Theileria annulata strain Ankara

The Sanger Institute has sequenced the genome of Theileria annulata to an 8x coverage using a whole genome shotgun approach. This was completed as a collaborative project with the University of Glasgow, Scotland. An EST project is ongoing to generate 10,000 EST reads for T. annulata to help with gene identification.
