Nirex Magnetic Tape Archives - Raw Data

A significant part of this data collection is geophysical survey data in digital form, being mainly instrumental recordings made during fieldwork. Derived data created during the subsequent processing and interpretation of the field data is described in 'Nirex Magnetic Tape Archives - Processed Data'. These data were originally stored on a variety of media. With the overall aim of delivering an efficient and effective archive service, the data have been consolidated onto DLT cartridges. Some related data, which were either analogue, on obscure media or in unknown formats have been retained in their original form. British Geological Survey maintains a full catalogue of the data, as an Access database.The data sets that comprise the magnetic archive are the following: Seismic surveys: marine, land and transition zone; field, navigation, statiatcs; Geophysical wireline logging of boreholes: routine wireline logging of investigation boreholes (gamma-ray, sonic, porosity, etc.); velocity surveys; dipmeter surveys;vertical seismic profiling; borehole televiewer (BHTV) surveys; formation microscanner (FMS) surveys; Ground surveys: magnetic; gravity; radiometric; thermal imaging; photographic imaging; in-flight videos. The ownership of NIREX (Nuclear Industry Radioactive Waste Executive) was transferred from the nuclear industry to the UK Government departments DEFRA and DTI in April 2005, and then to the UK's Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) in November 2006.本数据集的核心组成部分为数字化形式的地球物理勘探数据，主要为野外作业期间获取的仪器观测记录。针对野外采集数据开展后续处理与解译工作所生成的衍生数据，已在《Nirex磁带档案——处理后数据》（"Nirex Magnetic Tape Archives - Processed Data"）中予以说明。此类数据最初存储于多种介质中，为提供高效可靠的档案管理服务，现已统一整合至DLT盒式磁带上。部分相关数据——包括模拟格式数据、存储于特殊介质或格式不明的数据——均保留原始形态。英国地质调查局（British Geological Survey）已通过Access数据库建立完整的数据目录。 构成该磁性档案的数据集具体如下： 1. 地震勘探数据：涵盖海洋、陆地及过渡带三类勘探场景，包含野外采集数据、导航数据及静校正数据； 2. 钻孔地球物理电缆测井数据：包括勘察钻孔的常规测井数据（如伽马射线测井、声波测井、孔隙度测井等）、速度测井数据、地层倾角测井数据、垂直地震剖面数据、井中电视测井（BHTV，borehole televiewer）数据、地层微扫描仪测井（FMS，formation microscanner）数据； 3. 地面勘探数据：包括磁法勘探、重力勘探、放射性测量、热成像、摄影成像及机载飞行录像数据。 Nirex（核工业放射性废物执行局，Nuclear Industry Radioactive Waste Executive）的所有权于2005年4月由核工业部门移交至英国政府下辖的环境、食品与农村事务部（DEFRA）与贸易工业部（DTI），并于2006年11月移交至英国核退役管理局（NDA，Nuclear Decommissioning Authority）。
