ST: Sport Thesaurus

The World's First Multilingual Thesaurus of Sports
The Thesaurus of Sports is a hierarchically ordered structure of the names of competitions, disciplines and sports (Olympic and non-Olympic, including ancient and traditional) along with brief descriptions of the meaning of the main terms. It is linked to an ontology containing additional semantic categories. The presented thesaurus currently contains more than 1,300 main concepts arranged hierarchically in 3 trees, as well as additional categories (people, places, events, organizations synonyms, antonyms, associative terms). It allows searching for names of disciplines, competitions and types of occupations. The basic terminological relationship in the thesaurus is hyponymy (hyperonymy), and in addition there are also synonymy, antonymy, meronymy and fuzzynymes (includes attributes separately, e.g., wheel and net for hammer throw and proper fuzzynymes, e.g., athlete sculpture for discus throw). The thesaurus runs in the SKOSMOS environment.
