Shotgun Metagenome of Lambs (Ovis aries) and kids (Capra hircus)

This study utilizes metagenomics to delve into the gastrointestinal microbial composition and its genomic interactions with feed components, specifically focusing on the impact of Moringa leaf meal (MLM) in Lambs (Ovis aries) and kids (Capra hircus). The research has main objective to evaluate how MLM influences the performance, particularly body weight, of small ruminants and to dissect the effects of MLM on gastrointestinal microbiota composition and their gene pool. The results unveil that MLM enhances animal body weight and exerts a positive influence on the gastrointestinal microbiome by promoting the growth of beneficial microorganisms.
