This dataset includes the post-processed data and codes used for the paper titled "Global trends of fronts in a warming ocean and impacts on phytoplankton productivity" The ZIP file contains all files required for calculating trends of frontal metrics and reproducing all figures in Yang, K. et al. 2023: "Global trends of fronts in a warming ocean and impacts on phytoplankton productivity." The original data was obtained from NASA OB.DAAC (MODIS data), NASA SEDAC (world population data), and IMAS Metadata Catalogue (fishery landings data). A shapefile of global ocean warming hotspots provided by A. Hobday is also included. In the project that generated this data, we: 1) compute trends in frontal activity and chlorophyll in ocean warming hotspots; 2) classify global trends of frontal activity and chlorophyll based on commonality across oceanographic dynamical regions, and 3) explore implications for global fisheries.
