数据集通过网络挖掘获取，原始数据名称为Terrestrial Ecoregions of the World，是指全球生态区域类型分布的空间数据。数据来源为世界自然基金会（WWF），由Eric Dinerstein等2017年发布。
该数据是在Olson等人（2001）绘制的全球陆地生态区基础上进行修订，将全球14个陆地生物群落划分为陆地生态区，生态区保护类别分为4类，分别是半保护、自然可达到半保护、自然可恢复、自然受到威胁。全球共有867个陆地生态区，分为14个不同的生物群区，如森林、草原、沙漠等。

This dataset was acquired through web mining. Its original designation is *Terrestrial Ecoregions of the World*, which represents spatial data detailing the distribution of global terrestrial ecoregion types. The data is sourced from the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and was published by Eric Dinerstein and colleagues in 2017. This dataset is a revised iteration of the global terrestrial ecoregions mapped by Olson et al. (2001). It partitions 14 global terrestrial biomes into terrestrial ecoregions, with the ecoregions categorized into four protection classes: semi-protected, those capable of naturally attaining semi-protected status, naturally restorable, and naturally threatened. A total of 867 terrestrial ecoregions exist globally, which are grouped into 14 distinct biomes including forests, grasslands, deserts, and other types.
