The Geological Map 1:1,000,000 (GK1000) shows the geology of Germany and the adjacent areas. The quaternary units of northern Germany and the Alpine foreland are described genetically (according to the method of origin). The older sedimentary rocks are classified according to stratigraphy (the age of formation).
