Weighting of the Lden indicator of the average sound level: 12 hours of day (6am — 5pm); 4 hours of evening (5 p.m. — 10 p.m.) with an increase of 5 dB; 8 hours of night (22h — 6h) with an increase of 10 dB. These increases are representative of the discomfort experienced during these periods.
This zoning (CEEMA data aggregated by DDT Charente) is derived from a calculation method that gives approximate values and often higher than reality. In situ noise control can precisely determine the sound level to which a construction and its occupants may be exposed.
